WebsiteDown.org is an independent website reachability checker and publisher of troubleshooting guides. We publish under the WebsiteDown.org name. We are not the official status provider for the services listed in our directory.
Our purpose is to help visitors compare a failed browser action with an external HTTP observation, then decide what evidence to collect next. A check is a starting point for investigation, not proof that every part of a service works.
How the check works
We request a website’s origin through eight configured Vercel locations. The result includes regional HTTP responses, timestamps and a rule-based verdict. All locations use one hosting provider. We do not test signed-in pages, render browser JavaScript or complete transactions.
The full methodology documents the request method, available-probe majority, timeouts, cache behavior and interpretation limits. It includes an actual recorded result with downloadable raw data.
Guides and corrections
AI assistance has been used in writing and revising content and code. Our editorial policy explains how we distinguish observed measurements, possible causes and illustrative examples. It also records the removal of unsupported benchmark scores and incident claims during the September 2026 revision.
WebsiteDown.org is responsible for its published material. To report a mistake, include the page URL, the claim and any supporting source through our contact page. For checker disagreements, include the downloaded result and the browser error with personal information removed.
Commercial relationships
Some pages contain advertising code or affiliate links. Affiliate recommendations should be disclosed and marked as sponsored. Advertising does not determine the checker’s verdict. The privacy policy explains data handling, including browser history and public check activity.
Start with the problem you see
Work through the website troubleshooting checklist, investigate DNS answers, or understand why a browser and checker disagree.
